art and pizza
Yesterday (Saturday -- how is past midnight already!?) was free day at the Frist ($3 flat fee for parking aside -- which is a great deal, actually, and prompted me to stay longer than I'd initially planned), so I caught the German Expressionism exhibit right before it closed, which meant I got to see Franz Marc's Animals in a Landscape.
The Rembrandt exhibit was less my cup of tea, although I picked up some writing ideas there, and I got a kick out of this curator's note on one of the walls: "Since being an artist was not always profitable, many of them took on second jobs as art dealers, tavern keepers, tax collectors or even surgeons." What an odd list...
For lunch, the BYM took me to Bella Nashville, where we got in our orders just before they sold out for the day. My pie was topped with turnip greens, country ham, and basil. The BYM is not a turnip greens guy but he happily tried a slice because his past experiences with Bella's pizzas had all been excellent. And this too was indeed good.
